During week 7 & 8, we have to submit our work which includes our digital repository, are.na and catalogue of making. The digital repository contains my research on Collectibles, NFTs, and Metaverses. Are.na is where I keep track of all my research findings, and the catalogue of making is my progression through my experiments.
My digital repository is categorised into four main headings: Introduction, Key readings, Case Studies, and Experiments. The introduction provides all the information about physical and digital collectibles limitations and technologies such as NFTs and Metaverse. This section discusses the main readings related to NFTs and Metaverse, as well as scholarly and journal articles. Some of my case studies include Damien Hirst, Tom Sachs, and Nikeland. I'm experimenting with how to bring physical objects into digital space, retouching scans and uploading them.
Our research can be put into Are.na and we can categorize them accordingly. Are.na is great for keeping track of research topics and examples because I can easily refer back to them. I added videos and website links explaining about NFTs and Metaverses. I use it as a moodboard to collect my ideas and inspiration.
I have conducted three big experiments here: Bring physical to digital space, Touching up on scans and Uploading digital assets into the Metaverse. The idea of bringing physical assets to digital space and uploading them to the Metaverse appeals to me more. For my first experiment, I use a 3D scanner application. Qlone app is the one I use the most because it is the easiest to use and is more friendly to users. In my second experiment, I have to use a blender to modify the model and touch up on the scans. This process took up more time and also changes the appearance of the original model. My 3rd experiment is uploading the asset into Metaverse space such as Roblox. I plan to use other applications such as unity.
Moving forward from the progress that I have made so far, I want to focus on these 2 experiments which are to bring physical to digital space and also upload assets into Metaverse. I plan to continue to find ways to bring physical to digital space more accurately. I also want to explore using unity and uploading assets into Metaverse. I want to find the best way to create my own digital space.
